Messenger for mobile

During the last few weeks and months there have been quite a few changes on the mobile front for MSN and Windows Live. Today we want to focus on Messenger for mobile, but we'll report on the other content and services as well later on.

The reason why we want to highlight Messenger for Mobile is that we just launched a new site that is there to help you find the right version of Messenger that suits your phone and your operator best. This site went live in December for Belgium (NL and FR), The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. More countries to be followed within a few weeks and we'll let you know when exactly and which they are by the time these sites go live as well. You might have noticed that France and UK are not in this list but that's because they already have their own locally created sites. The purpose of these site is to see if there is a client version of Messenger available for your mobile phone (and with your operator). This gives you the richest mobile experience available for Messenger. You'll see that whenever there's no client version available for you that you can still go for the mobile browse version of Messenger.

So what do you do when you get to the site? You have 2 options:

Option 1:

You can use the wizard on the page to choose first your operator and then the manufacturer of your device (e.g. Samsung) and then you'll get a list of models that are supported. Choose your current model and you'll get the instructions to get Messenger on your device. It's not the same for every operator nor device, hence why we help you sort this out.

As said before, if you don't find your device immediately we will point you to the mobile browse version of Messenger. This is not application you need to install, and still gives you the power of Messenger on your phone. There are just less features on that one.

Also, we will keep adding operators and devices to the list, so it might be interesting to come back later and check again for your device.

Option 2:

You could use the partner area and choose one of our partners (Nokia, Windows Mobile, Vodafone, ... and many others) and start from there.

We built part of the site in Silverlight, but even if you don't have (and maybe don't want) Silverlight you can use the everything without problems so the choice is yours. It does add a nice touch to it ;)
